Produced in the wake of the devastating 2011 earthquakes in Christchurch (CHCH), New Zealand by award winning filmmaker Anna Wilding. The fatal earthquakes destroyed the entire city – the inner business district as well as may suburbs encompassing a 35km radius. With the government is announcing its Recovery Plan to rebuild, there have been ongoing protests as recently as two nights ago, from the remaining citizens of a city where almost 50% of the population of 400,000 have left, and school rolls having dropped to 50%. However, the remaining residents are buoyed by incoming workers intent on helping with reconstruction. The New Zealand government provided no plans for refugee status for CHCH citizens, as often happens in disasters in other countries. . The issue? Ongoing insurance matters. The Christchurch quake resulted in the largest insurance claim in history in the world. Many insured citizens have not been able to collect from insurance companies, as the city lies on several fault lines. Whether the city will ever be made whole is a matter of debate in some quarters.(60 min.)
