With English & Spanish language version on a single DVD, GUAZAPA is a story about El Salvador, a country living in the past and the present - angrily divided along ideological lines between left and right. More than 25 years ago, the U.S. government under Ronal Reagan drew a cold war line in El Salvador and declared that the leftist Farabundo Marti National liberation Front (FMLN) wer "international terrorists" and a major security threat to the U.S. Now the FMLN are Yesterday;s Enemies, having gained political power at the ballot box, a v ictory they could not win on the battlefield. Yet nearly half the population is under the poverty line, and the nation's enduring inequalities continue long after the end of the war. GUAZAPA is a personal documentary produced by journalist Don North who reported on the bloody conflict for American television in the 1980's. in 2007 North returned to the mountainous region of Guazapa to "see people, after more than 25 years, that he didn't know were still alive. They had given me strength in the middle of a disaster. (105:00 min.)
