Ever since she was a child, writer and director Begonya Plaza could remember her father telling her stories of his childhood memories: running from the bombs, hiding, hearing the sounds of other Basque people screaming, and seeing the death all around him. For the 50th anniversary of those atrocious days, when the Nazis bombed the beautiful city of Guernica from the skies. It was the first time a city was bombed from the air and it was a precursor to World War II. Begonya and her father traveled to Guernica to try to understand and to see that peace is promoted instead, throughout this troubled world. Hosted by actor John Randolph and GUERNICA LIVES was filmed in the Basque Country and later in New York after the tragic events of 9/11 with commentary by historian/writer, Mario Salegi.
